Gates to Bryant-Denny Stadium will open at noon for the 2 p.m. event. There will not be a parade or a Walk of Champions, the university announced Monday night. Opinion: Tide continues to roll after championship
Tuscaloosa News – Jan. 12
You really can’t put a price on pride, but the University of Alabama Crimson Tide’s throttling of the Texas Longhorns in the BCS National Championship game at the Rose Bowl last week to earn the 13th national championship for the Capstone will mean big bucks, not only for the university, but for the Tuscaloosa economy as well. Seventeen years ago, when Alabama won its last national championship…the festivities seemed to go on in Tuscaloosa for weeks, even months after, culminating in the 1993 A-Day Game. In a way, it was the longest football season ever at Alabama, and this one seems poised to match, if not surpass, that one…

…The climb is likely due to increasing demand for oil in China and India, which are rebounding from the deepest recession in decades more quickly than the United States, said Peter Clark, a University of Alabama chemical engineering professor who follows the energy markets…”The value of the dollar is dropping and demand is increasing, and that has attracted oil speculators who are driving up the price of crude,” which is traded in U.S. dollars, Clark said…
