Film stirs debate over food production
Tuscaloosa News – Aug. 7
The food consumers eat today isn’t like the food produced 50 years ago, says the documentary film “Food, Inc.,” which opens at the Bama Theatre on Sunday and runs through Wednesday. To kick off the Tuscaloosa showing, an opening night reception will be held Sunday, featuring an on-site cooking demonstration with foods from local farmers and an in-depth panel discussion after the film…“It’s really an outstanding deal if you ask me because it comes down to $11 for a plate of food that’s better than any food you’ll get at any restaurant in Tuscaloosa,” said Andy Grace, a producer/director for the Center for Public Television and Radio at the University of Alabama…“I definitely would hope that people in the community will come out and rethink the way they eat. I would love to see people who own restaurants to come out to the event and think of ways to use more local produce. We’ve got some great farmers in the area,” Grace said.
