UA offers downloadable video, audio through Apple’s iTunes

On Tuesday, the University of Alabama joined a growing list of colleges offering video and audio through iTunes…’There’s a lot of interest in the educational community in being able to use this technology for a mechanism to disseminate information and disseminate the expertise in the institution,’ said Ivon Foster, interim director for Center for Instructional Technology at UA…’At this point the University of Alabama is making content available to everyone in the world, the public, and, of course, students may be using it,’ said Rachel Shuttlesworth, with UA’s faculty resource center. ‘But a lot of the content is geared toward sharing the university’s achievements and scholarships with the world.’ ‘UA’s presence in the iTunes Store was sort of all over the place,’ Foster said. Now, the files will be branded by UA so users can link to the university’s other offerings…But UA is putting up more than just supplemental class material. For instance, nearly every episode of the Emmy-nominated ‘Discovering Alabama’ series is on UA’s iTunes site, Shuttlesworth said…
