Davis expects close Democratic primary
Florence Times-Daily — April 28

David Lanoue, chairman of the political science department at the University of Alabama, said multiple primary candidates could help Davis. “In general, it’s probably better for Artur Davis to have more candidates in the race, if he’s able to lock down the African-American vote, because it’s about splitting the remaining vote,” Lanoue said.
Davis said there’s too much at stake for the governor’s race to be about anything other than a “vigorous debate.” “With our state in the grip of a severe recession, with our Legislature mired in the usual battle between Montgomery interest groups, our people deserve clear answers about our priorities,” he said.

Opinion: CrimsonRide: a strength of UA
Crimson White – April 27

Few University of Alabama services reach more students and are more visible than the CrimsonRide. For almost two years, the University has operated an adaptive, efficient and accessible mode of transportation for the campus community…The CrimsonRide system has proven itself to be adaptable and cost-efficient. When UA officials realized that the Entertainment Route, an option designed to appeal to a variety of students, was losing money, they cut the service. We were impressed: few large organizations recognize and correct problems so quickly…We see potential for enormous, continued growth of the CrimsonRide, which is still a relatively new, if visible, part of our campus. It is our hope that all members of the University of Alabama community will embrace the CrimsonRide and make it an integral feature of daily life.
