STUDENT AFFAIRS

Safety during the holidays.
The Student Government Association and the UA Police Department provide the following precautions that you may take during the holiday break to enhance the security of your residence and property.

  • Lock your doors and windows. Most crimes are crimes of opportunity which could be avoided by securing your property. The harder it is for a criminal to enter into your home, the less likely it is that he will continue to try.
  • Close all blinds and remove valuable items away from visibility. UAPD recommends taking valuables home with you.
  • Consider leaving a light on in your home while away. The light may make criminals think that there is someone home, and, therefore, they will be more hesitant to act.
  • Alert the local police that you are leaving for the holidays so that during your absence they will be able to take special notice of your residence during patrols. UAPD and the Tuscaloosa Police Department will have a continued presence in the fringe areas during the holiday break.

Recycle your books for cash Dec. 1–13.
Get cash for your used textbooks at the Supply Store and in turn, give someone else the opportunity to buy a used book for next semester. Click here for special locations, hours and book values.
