TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama College of Human Environmental Sciences presented the Jack Davis Professional Achievement Award to Roberta E. Donahue, Quinn M. Franklin, Daniel E. Glover, Stephen D. Iaconis, Hunter Lingle, Debra W. Morrison, Jessica Bradford Odom, Justin D. Shelton and Donna Wesley during recent homecoming activities on campus.
The Jack Davis Professional Achievement Awards are presented annually to outstanding College of Human Environmental Sciences alumni for their professional accomplishments. Dr. Jack Davis, the first male graduate of the College, was a pioneer in emphasizing nutrition and dentistry.
Roberta E. Donahue
Donahue, assistant professor of health and exercise sciences at Truman State University, was recognized for her career achievements in health promotion. She completed doctorate studies in human environmental sciences at UA and UAB in 2002. Donahue is the author of numerous articles in research and national publications. She also participates in several service activities as well as advises students in health promotion. In 2008, she received the William O’Donnell Lee Advising Award at Truman State University.
Quinn M. Franklin
Franklin, research specialist at Texas Children’s Hospital, was recognized for her career achievements in human development and family studies. Currently pursuing a doctorate in child development at Texas Woman’s University, she holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in human development and family studies from UA. Franklin serves in various capacities on the Child Life Council.
Daniel E. Glover
Glover, director of operations with RLM Communications in Augusta, Ga., was recognized for his career achievements in interactive technology. In addition to more than 20 years of experience in interactive technology and training, he has vast experience as a leader on projects with the United States military. Glover completed undergraduate studies at Park College in Parkville, Mo. and earned a master’s degree in interactive technology at UA.
Stephen D. Iaconis
Iaconis, a certified financial planner with Lincoln Financial Advisors Corp. in Birmingham, was recognized for his achievement in financial planning. He specializes in wealth management for the pre- and post-retiree. Iaconis received a bachelor of science degree in financial planning, summa cum laude, from UA.
Hunter Lingle
Lingle, co-founder and designer for Hunter-Dixon, was recognized for her career achievements in clothing and textile design. She holds a bachelor of science degree from UA in clothing and textile design. Her past projects and work experience include Nanette Lepore, Calvin Klein Underwear and GAP, Inc.
Debra W. Morrison
Morrison, a clinical nutrition manager at Cullman Regional Medical Center, was recognized for her achievement in nutrition. She possesses a broad background in instruction and serves as director of the Coordinated Program in Dietetics at UA. She received a master’s degree in human nutrition from UA.
Jessica Bradford Odom
Odom was recognized for her career achievements in sport management. She received a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s degree in sport management from UA. Odom has experience in events coordination and sport management with organizations such as the Miami Dolphins, George Washington University and UA Intercollegiate Athletics.
Justin D. Shelton
Shelton, vice president of operations at Larry Blumberg and Associates in Dothan, was recognized for his career achievements in restaurant, hotels and meetings management. As vice president of operations, he oversees the successful operation of 54 Marriott and Hilton properties. Shelton holds a bachelor of science degree in restaurant and hospitality management from UA.
Donna Wesley
Wesley, a native of Hoover, was recognized for her career achievements in athletic training. She is an adjunct instructor at Itawamba Community College as well as a certified athletic trainer at North Mississippi Medical Center. Wesley was elected the first female president of the Mississippi Athletic Trainers’ Association in 2004, and was recently elected to a second term.
