TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The 2008 freshman class of Coca-Cola First Generation Scholars at The University of Alabama is giving back to their community by serving the children of the Boys and Girls Club of West Alabama.
The Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship recipients will present much needed sports equipment and books to the Boys and Girls Club on Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 3:30-6:30 p.m.
“Before each home football game, we sold raffle tickets for a signed Nick Saban football to raise funds for the equipment the children needed. Patrons were extremely excited to help us with our cause. It gave us motivation to make a difference for these children,” said Kyle Fox, a freshman majoring in political science and a
Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship recipient.
Twelve UA freshmen who are the first in their families to attend college were awarded the prestigious
Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year.
“Without the scholarship from Coca-Cola I would not have been able to attend The University of Alabama. Being the first in my family to attend college gives me the opportunity to set the bar very high for my two younger siblings,” said Fox.
