EVENTS, ARTS, & CULTURE

Dr. Tim Hebson, dean of students, reminds all UA students to be safe during Homecoming Week. Dear UA Students: Homecoming is always a special time at The University of Alabama. With another large crowd expected on campus and numerous events happening over the weekend, please remember these safety guidelines as you enjoy the festivities:

  • Lock your doors and windows at all times, even when you are home.
  • Never leave your personal property – backpacks, laptops, books, flash drives, iPods, etc. – unattended.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. Walk in groups in well-lighted areas.
  • Remember that students who are impaired are at a greater risk for harm to person and property.
  • Be the friend you’d want to have when your peers need help.
  • If an incident occurs or you become concerned about your safety, call police immediately. If you are on or near campus, call UAPD (348-5454); if you are off-campus, call TPD (349-2121). Program the phone numbers for UAPD and TPD into your cell and Tuscaloosa residence phones.

The University continues to focus on education, environment and enforcement to help ensure our students’ security and well-being, on and off campus. Please take a few minutes to review UAPD’s Safer Living guide (available online at http://police.ua.edu). And, don’t hesitate to call if you have questions or concerns.

Enjoy Homecoming 2008, and Roll Tide!

Homecoming 2008: “A Tide Nation, Unified with Crimson Pride” will be Oct. 26–Nov. 1. The Redbook, which outlines all Homecoming policies and procedures, is also available in the SGA Office. More information: click here.
