Road work won’t affect game traffic

Both Paul W. Bryant Drive and Jack Warner Parkway will be open to traffic Saturday, when the University of Alabama holds its first home football game against Tulane, City Engineer Joe Robinson said…On Jack Warner Parkway, the University of Alabama is opening a road across the west side of campus and is creating an entrance onto the street that includes a turn lane. Neither the road nor the turn lane will be open on Saturday, but the construction won’t interfere with traffic on Jack Warner Parkway, Robinson said…

Rodgers Library now open 24 hours

…Starting this semester, students will be able to use the Eric and Sarah Rodgers Library for Science and Engineering 24 hours a day for four days a week. Dean of Libraries Louis Pitschmann said the program is testing the waters. “It’s a pilot project to determine whether there is sufficient need to have a library open around the clock,” Pitschmann said…

College of Nursing holds Pre-K health screenings

UA Dining Halls Going Trayless

University officials decided to go trayless when student government leaders came to them and asked to go green. The school predicts it will save hundreds of thousands on water and waste by losing the trays.

Hotel Capstone’s renovation party

A $1.65 million renovation of the Hotel Capstone on the University of Alabama campus is making its debut just in time for the Crimson Tide’s first home football game. A renovation party is set for tonight to show off the new look of the 150-room hotel along with its new Legends restaurant, which boosts the hotel’s events and catering capabilities,
renovated guest rooms, ballroom and lobby. Birmingham’s Jackson Hospitality Services has managed the hotel since it opened in 1987 and will operate it as Hotel Capstone, changing its name from Sheraton Four Points. The hotel is attached to the Bryant Conference Center.
