2 million riders have boarded Crimson Ride buses since 2007

University of Alabama freshmen Ciara Prater…was the 2 millionth person to ride on a Crimson Ride bus since the program began in 2007. Around 11 a.m., Kirby, Ralph Clayton, UA assistant director of transit, and Gina Johnson, associate vice president of auxiliary services, gathered at the transit hub on Campus Drive to set up for the event. When Prater stepped off the bus, Kirby presented her with a certificate and gift basket and told her why they were there. “It was really overwhelming,” Prater said about the ceremony. “It’s actually the first time I’ve been on a Crimson Ride bus…One of those changes includes covered stops to protect riders from inclement weather while they wait for a Crimson Ride bus, said Cathy Andreen, UA director of media relations…the administration has found that the Crimson Ride system has been well received during freshman orientation by students and parents.
