Cartee, a veteran of cam¬paigns in several states, said campaign signs are ubiqui¬tous for a reason. It’s hard to win local races without them. She said the signs are a major expense, but if they are going to be effective, they have to be everywhere, she said. “You are really going for name recognition,” she said. “It doesn’t give you any kind of persuasive edge.” She said if enough voters recognize a name from signs, they might choose that can¬didate in the voting booth, even if they don’t know the candidate’s platform…
