The Crimson Caravan chugs into Bryant-Denny Stadium tonight with University of Alabama football coach Nick Saban speaking to an expected crowd of more than 500 Alabama alumni and fans…The Tuscaloosa chapter of the Alabama Alumni Association is hosting the event in the Zone in Bryant-Denny Stadium and chapter president David Wilson said he has seen an overwhelming response. “I think it’s tremendous for Coach to come speak and reach out to the fans in the area,” Wilson said. “We’re expecting about 500 people. The community is real excited.”…Alabama cheerleaders, members of the Million Dollar Band and Big Al will be in attendance. UA president Robert Witt is also scheduled to address the audience.

Congratulations to Barry Mason for being chosen as Citizen of the Year by the Tuscaloosa Civitan Club…Mason, the popular dean of the business college at the University of Alabama and a former interim president of UA, is well deserving of the honor…During his stint at the helm of UA in 2002, prior to the arrival of President Robert Witt, Mason emphasized creating a healthier campus environment. In particular, he worked to get UA off a national list of top-10 party schools. Mason, 67, has spent his career enhancing the reputation of UA and the experience of its students. In the process, he has gained national recognition. The Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration is ranked 29th in the nation among public business schools…
