EVENTS, ARTS & CULTURE

A Graduation Celebration will be held March 25-27 from 9-6 p.m. each day in the Ferguson Center ballroom. Representatives from the offices of academic records, student financial services, loan receivables, the career center, and other student services will be on hand to answer questions. 90.7 The Capstone announces Tuscapalooza, a 12-hour event devoted to experiencing the diversity of Tuscaloosa’s music scene. Tuscapalooza will take place Friday, March 28 from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. at the Bama Theatre in downtown Tuscaloosa. This event is open to all ages. Admission: $10 general, $5 children 12 and under. Art Night will be held March 29 from 6:30–9:30 p.m. at Yoga Bliss on University Boulevard. There will be live music, theatrical performances, hors d’oeuvres, and a silent art auction featuring photos, paintings, and sculptures made by UA students and community members. Free admission. Walk for Awere will be held March 29 at 11 a.m. Registration starts at 10 a.m. Proceeds will go to Awere Secondary School in the war-torn region of Northern Uganda. Run for Roses, benefiting the Arthritis Foundation, will be held March 29 at 8 a.m. The race will begin in front of the Alpha Omicron Pi house. The $15 registration fee includes a T-shirt, your name in a raffle, barbecue lunch, and music on the Quad. Cash prizes will be presented for the top three winners. The Criminal Justice Career Fair will be hosted by the department of criminal justice on April 10 from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. on the third floor of Ferguson Center. The fair is open to the public and will feature various local and federal law enforcement agencies. More information: Tom Allen at 534-7685.

Relay for Life at UA will be April 11 from 6 p.m.–6 a.m. on the Quad. Teams can continue to sign up until April 1. Compete with other groups on campus to raise the most money for the American Cancer Society and win the top fundraiser award for 2008. More information: cac.bama@gmail.com.

Alumni magazine has job openings. UA’s alumni publications office is searching for juniors or seniors majoring in journalism or public relations to serve as editorial assistants in year-round, ongoing positions. These 15-hour-a-week positions pay a minimum of $6.15 an hour.
