EVENTS, ARTS & CULTURE

Joint sophomore piano recital featuring Nathan Smith and Jennifer Lee. Given by two piano performance majors, this event will be held at 5:30 p.m. on March 13 in Moody Music Building. Free admission. More information: Jennifer Lee at 256-683-1169.

LUNAFEST, a national film festival by, for, and about women, will be March 13 at the Bama Theatre. A catered reception by The Globe and a silent auction will begin at 6 p.m. Films begin at 7 p.m. All proceeds benefit the National Breast Cancer Fund and the Women’s Resource Center. Corporate Citizenship Panel will be held March 12 from 1–2 p.m. at 30 Alston. The Manderson Graduate School of Business is hosting a panel of executives from GE, Southern Company, Whole Foods, M & F Bank, and the UA Outreach to answer questions and lead a discussion about corporate citizenship and the respective company’s position on this issue. An alcohol awareness program and speaker will be March 24 from 6–7 p.m. in the Ferguson Theatre. Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority will host the event featuring Bill Hughes, a noted student speaker, counselor and author. Hughes will address alcohol-related issues pertaining to all UA students. 90.7 The Capstone announces Tuscapalooza, a 12-hour event devoted to experiencing the diversity of Tuscaloosa’s music scene. Tuscapalooza will take place Friday, March 28 from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. at the Bama Theatre in downtown Tuscaloosa. This event is open to all ages. Admission: $10 general, $5 children 12 and under. Art Night will be held March 29 from 6:30–9:30 p.m. at Yoga Bliss on University Boulevard. There will be live music, theatrical performances, hors d’oeuvres, and a silent art auction featuring photos, paintings, and sculptures made by UA students and community members. Free admission. UA leads Gridiron Bash fan competition. UA currently holds down the top spot in the Gridiron Bash “Bash for Cash” standings. Fans may vote online at www.gridironbash.com or by texting BAMA to 23909 (99 cents per call). The top three universities with the highest number of votes/points will share a total of $1,750,000 for scholarships. The event will be held at Bryant-Denny Stadium Friday, April 11 and will feature a pep rally with head coach Nick Saban, the Alabama football team, the Million Dollar Band and cheerleaders, followed by a concert starring Alan Jackson. Corolla yearbook pictures and sales. The Corolla yearbook staff will be in front of Gordon Palmer on March 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. selling books and taking individual yearbook photos. Books are $70 and can be charged to your student account or credit card. More information: www.corolla.ua.edu.

Alumni magazine job openings. UA’s alumni publications office is searching for juniors or seniors majoring in journalism or public relations to serve as editorial assistants in year-round, ongoing positions. These 15-hour-a-week positions pay a minimum of $6.15 an hour.
