Academic all-star
Sand Mountain Reporter – Feb. 16
People in coastal areas will be safer from disasters because of the work of Michelle McGaha. Not bad for a project completed during a summer college internship. McGaha, an Albertville native and senior at the University of Alabama, spent nine weeks at the NOAA Pacific Service Center. There, she devised a program that allows people to pinpoint specific dangers relative to their location and how to respond if a disaster strikes.
