TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Dr. Jacqueline V. Morgan has been named director of the University Honors Program and the University Fellows Experience in The University of Alabama Honors College.
As director of both the UA Honors Program and the University Fellows Experience, Morgan will partner with other colleges and programs at the University to provide the best possible education for Honors College students.
“The Honors College plays a critical role in attracting top scholars,” Morgan said. “Looking ahead, I believe that a pressing challenge is to remain consistently committed to providing the best possible experiences that match – or exceed – the students’ expectations. As an educator, I am passionately dedicated to working with our UA community to address that challenge.”
In administrative posts at the University, Morgan most recently served as senior associate director of Undergraduate Admissions and Scholarships, recruiting top students nationally, and prior to that as founder and director of the UA McNair Scholars Program, an undergraduate research experience that earned a ranking in the top 10 percent in the country of similar programs under her leadership.
Morgan holds doctorate and master’s degrees from UA, as well as graduate and undergraduate degrees from Florida State University. She has served as a board member of numerous organizations, including as president for local nonprofits including the Tuscaloosa County Preservation Society, the Junior League of Tuscaloosa and Tuscaloosa Family Resource Center.
“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Jacqueline Morgan as a member of the
Honors College team,” said Dr. Robert Halli, dean of the UA Honors College. “She will further the exciting innovations and excellence of the ever-expanding University Honors Program, and, for the University Fellows Experience, our new program for the best of the best, of which she was co-creator, she will establish its shape and traditions and insure its excellence.”
The University Honors College is committed to helping its students define their dreams, take strides towards achieving them and receive recognition and rewards for their accomplishments. UHC has grown from 1,000 students to more than 4,000 undergraduate students in the past five years, consisting of one-fifth of UA’s undergraduate student body.
