UA to Host Memorial Service for Ron Robel

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A memorial service for Dr. Ronald Robel, assistant professor of history in The University of Alabama’s College of Arts and Sciences, will be Saturday, Sept. 8 at 3 p.m. in the Morgan Hall Auditorium on the UA campus.

The service will be conducted by family, friends and UA faculty and is open to all who want to honor Robel’s more than 40 years of service to higher education and to the Tuscaloosa community. The service program will conclude with an opportunity for informal reminiscences about Robel, who died in Tuscaloosa Aug. 24 after a brief illness.

Robel retired in 2004 but continued to teach and be an integral part of academic life at the Capstone. Denny Chimes will play in Robel’s honor prior to the service beginning at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ronald R. Robel Endowed Scholarship in the College of Arts and Sciences.
