UA Professor Receives Outstanding Educator Award

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Dr. Roy Maize, associate professor and director of the restaurant, hotel and meetings management program in The University of Alabama College of Human Environmental Sciences, has been selected to receive the Lamp of Knowledge Award for Outstanding U.S. Educator from the American Hotel and Lodging Association Educational Institute.

The award recognizes individuals who have made effective use of the Educational Institute’s independent learning programs.

UA’s RHM program began placing its curriculum online in 2001 using educational materials produced by the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute. Currently there are more than 125 students taking RHM courses online.
