UA Alumna Named to Prestigious AAHID

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Sonya Batchelor Odell, a graduate of The University of Alabama College of Human Environmental Sciences from Winston County, will be inducted into the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers early next year.

Odell attended Winston County High School, received her undergraduate degree from UA and her master’s degree in interior design from the University of Tennessee. Odell also has post-graduate certificates in marketing and management from Southern Methodist University and the University of Virginia.

She began her career in healthcare interior design at Gresham and Smith in Nashville, Tenn., and is now the director of health system planning for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

AAHID is an organization dedicated to providing the healthcare community with experienced and qualified healthcare design professionals, offering advanced testing on health care codes, requirements and equipment.
