CCSO Names Freshman Forum Student Organization of the Month at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Coordinating Council for Student Organizations (CCSO) named Freshman Forum as UA Student Organization of the Month for March.

Based on the activities and achievements of Freshman Forum, CCSO chose Freshman Forum as an exemplary organization in the University community.

Freshman Forum is comprised of 50 members.  The main objectives of the organization are to develop leadership skills in its members and to promote the interests of all freshmen on campus. The Forum deals with problems relating primarily, but not limited to, the freshman student body. The Forum provides services to the local community, initiates and organizes ongoing orientation programs for first-year students, and promotes the general welfare of students enrolled at the University.

Freshman Forum is active in promoting the interests of the freshman student body. One project they worked on this year was the Freshman Town Hall Meeting that was held with several University vice presidents. The Town Hall Meeting gave every freshman on campus a chance to voice their opinions to the University administration and to the Forum.

Another project was the “Rama Jama Battle of Bands” which gave students a chance to display their musical talents and provided a social event for students. Freshman Forum also placed 2nd in the Beat Auburn-Beat Hunger Food Drive by raising more than 4,600 pounds of food for the West Alabama Food Bank in November.

The CCSO serves as the coordinating body for all UA student organizations; its purpose is to provide support to some 250 student organizations and to UA students.
