Public Invited to Join UA Astronomy Department for Viewing of Galaxies and Nebulae

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama astronomy department will hold a free public sky viewing of the galaxies and nebulae on Friday, March 12, beginning at 7 p.m. in Moundville with Dr. Bill Keel, UA professor of astronomy, as host of the event.

Guests will look through the 16-inch and 17-inch telescopes located in the Moundville Archaeological Park. The telescopes are set up on a pad in the field across the road from the museum. Free parking is available at the museum and at the conference center overlooking the Black Warrior River.
