Concerto and Aria Competition Winners to Perform at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama School of Music will present the Concerto and Aria Competition winners with UA’s Huxford Symphony Orchestra in concert on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Moody Music Concert Hall on campus.

This year’s winners are trombonist Anthony Barfield, who will be performing “Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra,” and soprano Natalie Bergeron, who will be performing “Pleurez, Pleurez, Mes Yeux!” The concert will conclude with “Three Cornered Hat” by Manuel de Falla. The Huxford Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Carlton McCreery, UA professor of music.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The Concerto and Aria Competition is held annually in the UA School of Music. Students from all applied disciplines and degree programs compete for the honor of performing with the Huxford Orchestra. Winners from previous years hold positions at universities and in professional orchestras throughout the country.
