TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Women’s Resource Center will host brown bag lunch events in the Ferguson Forum beginning at noon on these dates:
- On Friday, Jan. 16, the film “Killing Us Softly 3” will be shown. This film examines the ways in which women are displayed in advertising and how this portrayal contributes to the culture of devaluing of women.
- On Wednesday, Jan. 21, have lunch with Dr. Kathryn Oths of the UA department of anthropology as she discusses her topic of research — “Give Me Shelter: How Women Flee Domestic Abuse.”
- On Friday, Jan. 30, the newly-released film “Standing on my Sister’s Shoulders” will be shown. This film shows how a group of courageous women in Mississippi became the grassroots leaders of the U.S. Civil Rights Movement.
