University of Alabama alumnus and geneticist Dr. Richard Myers, researcher with the Human Genome Project, will return to his alma mater to speak on “The next 100 years: How the sequence of the Human Genome will affect biology, medicine and our lives.”
The School of Library and Information Studies at The University of Alabama will host a luncheon talk on “The Nature of Storytelling and the Work of the Storyteller” by noted storyteller, author and teacher Diane Wolkstein. Enrollment in The University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing hit an all-time high this semester – welcome news to a health care industry reeling in the midst of a national nursing shortage. The flood of students has led to creative ways of obtaining sufficient classroom and laboratory space.

Bernstein of the George Mason University School of Law will speak Thursday, Oct. 9, at noon in the Moot Court Room of The University of Alabama School of Law on “How Antidiscrimination Laws are Being Used to Suppress Civil Liberties.” His talk, which is open to the public, is sponsored by the Federalist Society, a student organization of the UA School of Law.
