UA Capstone Engineering Society to Sponsor Golf Tournament

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Greater Birmingham Chapter of the Capstone Engineering Society of The University of Alabama College of Engineering will hold the third annual CES Golf Tournament on Monday, April 28, at the Tannehill National Golf Course in Birmingham, beginning at 11 a.m.

UA Athletic Director Mal Moore and Dr. Timothy J. Greene, dean of the UA College of Engineering, will be participating in the event. The tournament is open to all alumni and friends of the College of Engineering. The format will be a two-person team scramble with a shotgun start.

Along with other awards and prizes for the event, the prize for a hole-in-one will be a two-year lease of a Cadillac Escalade, thanks to Crest Cadillac of Birmingham.

The cost for participation is $100 per player, and registration includes green fees, cart, range balls, beverages, lunch and a souvenir shirt. Individuals or companies can sponsor a hole for $300 and will receive signage on the tee, scoreboard recognition and mention in the Capstone Engineer, the College of Engineering’s alumni magazine. Proceeds of the golf tournament will benefit the initiatives of CES, which is the UA College of Engineering’s alumni society.

This year’s sponsors include Brasfield and Gorrie, Crest Cadillac of Birmingham, Martin Engineering Co., Rast Construction, Russo Corp., Wade Sand and Gravel Co. Inc., and Whitaker and Rawson.

The Capstone Engineering Society, established in 1972, is the alumni society of the College of Engineering. The CES is dedicated to maintaining relationships and sharing resources with UA engineering alumni to ensure that the College is able to provide UA engineering students with a superior educational experience.
