UA Army ROTC to Hold Annual JROTC Tide Invitational Drill Meet Saturday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – University of Alabama Army ROTC will host their annual Roll Tide Invitational JROTC drill meet Saturday, March 8.

More than 500 Junior ROTC Cadets from 15 high schools across the state, including Hillcrest, Tuscaloosa Central, Tuscaloosa County, Brookwood, Grissom, Sparkman High, Ensley High, Stanhope Elmore, Sidney Lanier, Albertville High, Brewer High, Wenonah High, Vincent High, Greene County, and Walker County High, will participate.

The sign-in will be at 7 a.m. on the UA campus at the ROTC Building, 610 Capstone Drive. The first event will be the Army Physical Fitness Test, beginning in front of Tomey Hall at 7:45 a.m.

The competition will consist of numerous events, including the Army Physical Fitness Test, Academic Challenge (written), Field Manual 22-5 Drill, Fancy Drill, and Color Guard. These events will take place on the UA Quad throughout the day. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes in each event and for the overall competition. There will be an awards ceremony at the end of the competition.

The Crimson Kaydettes, the support organization to the UA Corps of Cadets, will be on the Quad selling refreshments for their annual fund raiser. Everyone is invited to come out and support the participating schools.
