
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Tonea Stewart and the Realizing the Dream Community Choir will highlight the 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. “Realizing the Dream” event at The University of Alabama Moody Music Concert Hall, Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets for the performance are $15 and will go on sale at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at the Moody Music Hall box office. For more information on tickets call 205/348-7111.
Stewart is a native of Greenwood, Miss., and has lived in Montgomery since 1990. She is a professor and director of theatre arts at Alabama State University. She also is a veteran professional actress who has both television and movie credits, including roles in “A Time to Kill,” “Mississippi Burning,” “Tara,” and “Roses,” among others.
The Realizing the Dream Community Choir features students and members of the community. Marcia Hood, a UA graduate student, will conduct the choir.
This annual event is sponsored in conjunction with Stillman College and Shelton State Community College, and it serves as a lasting tribute to the life and memory of Martin Luther King Jr. by presenting some of America’s best-known performers from the stage, screen and recording studio. Past performers have included Al Green, Ossie Davis, Sidney Poitier, Roberta Flack, Harry Belafonte, Cicely Tyson and Take 6.
