Constitutional Reform Seminar to be Held on UA Campus

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Dr. Bailey Thomson, associate professor of journalism at The University of Alabama, will hold a special educational lecture on Alabama constitutional reform on Thursday, Sept. 26, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in 310 Bidgood Hall on The University of Alabama campus.

Thomson’s past lectures on this subject have been lively and informative. Don’t miss this chance to learn about one of the state’s most controversial hot button topics.

This lecture is designed to aid in making informed decisions about what and how to change in the state’s constitution, and it is open to the general public, as well as faculty, staff and students of UA.

Thomson is editor of the book “A Century of Controversy: Constitutional Reform in Alabama.” Alabama’s present constitution, adopted in 1901, is widely viewed as the source of many, if not most, of the state’s historic difficulties and inequalities. The present constitution has more than 700 amendments, which makes it longer than any other constitution in the United States.
