TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama is currently taking applications for the 2002 – 2004 Mobile-based Masters of Social Work program.
The program, established in 2000, is the result of cooperation between UA and the Alabama Department of Human Resources to assist DHR employees, and others who reside in or near the southern part of the state, in complying with new DHR educational requirements for social workers.
“We are delighted that UA’s MSW program is available in Mobile, because of the steadily growing need for these highly skilled, dedicated professionals in this area of the state,” said Bill Fuller, Alabama’s DHR commissioner.
The Mobile program is structured so those students are able to complete the M.S.W. degree in two years. Some six courses required during the first year of the program are taught largely in the Mobile area, with students traveling to the Tusaloosa campus two or three times each semester.
Two 500-clock hour field education internships and the required classroom courses in the children, youth, and families’ concentration will be offered in Mobile.
The priority application deadline is Feb. 1, 2002 with classes beginning June 2002.
