TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — University of Alabama officials will dedicate the Crimson Promenade, a newly-constructed, landscaped pedestrian area adjacent to the Student Services Plaza between Ferguson Center and the Student Services Center, at a 9 a.m. ceremony, Saturday, April 14.
The privately funded project includes thousands of brick pavers, engraved with names of donors.
Speaking at the ribbon-cutting ceremony will be UA President Andrew Sorensen; Dr. Sybil Todd, UA vice president for student affairs; SGA President Jon Macklem; and UA alumni Connie Ray Stockham of Birmingham and Richard Cowart of Louisville, Tenn. Stockham and Cowart co-chaired the project.
The Promenade, an area of green space and walkways, helps link the Quad at the center of campus with the Ferguson Center area.
The dedication will take place in the SGA Arbor on the north side of the Promenade. In case of rain, the ceremony will be moved inside Ferguson Center.
