TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The department of physics and astronomy at The University of Alabama is inviting the public to participate in a free viewing of celestial objects on Friday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m.
The viewing will take place at the Moundville Archaeological Park. Attendees will have opportunity to view, through the department’s Meade 16-inch Equatorial Reflector and a recently-donated 17-inch Dobsonian telescope, objects including the planets Jupiter and Saturn, the Orion Nebula, and other bright star clusters.
Drs. Ron Buta and Bill Keel, both professors of astronomy, will be present at the event for questions and comments.
The viewing site will be located in an open field adjacent to the park museum, along the road leading to the conference building. In the case of cloudy or inclement weather conditions, the event will be cancelled. In case of doubt, viewers are advised to contact the department of physics and astronomy at 205/348-5050 for the most up-to-date information.
