TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Students in 6th through 12th grades have a chance to experience a slice of college life at The University of Alabama’s Capstone Camp this summer.
Admission decisions for Capstone Camp, a program taught by UA honors undergraduate and graduate students, began on Feb. 15, and students can continue to register until the courses are full.
Capstone Camp gives its students a chance to take non-credit, two or four-week courses in technology, language, creative writing and the arts.
Classes are taught in various locations on the UA campus. Class size is limited to maintain low pupil-staff ratios in order to offer students more one-on-one time with instructors, so those interested should register as soon as possible.
This year, students will be offered two-week sessions in technology, creative writing, languages and the arts. In addition, students in grades 9-12 may choose to complete a four-week language immersion program in French, German, Spanish or Japanese.
The two-week session dates are:
Session 1, June 4 – 15.
Session 2, June 18 – 29.
Session 3, July 9 – 20.
Session 4, July 23 – Aug. 3.
The four-week session dates are:
Session 1, June 4 – 29.
Session 2, July 9 – Aug. 3.
For commuters, two-week non-residential tuition is $575. For commuters participating in the immersion program, the cost is $1,110. Students who wish to stay on the UA campus while participating in Capstone Camp pay $800 for a two-week session and $1,500 for a four-week session.
