TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The 2001 Miss University of Alabama competition will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. in the Ferguson Center ballroom on the UA campus.
Ten contestants will compete in categories of eveningwear, swimsuit/physical fitness, talent, and a private interview. The winner will represent UA at the 2001 Miss Alabama Pageant in June.
Tickets may be purchased Feb. 5-9 in the Ferguson Center lobby or in the ballroom lobby the night of the pageant. The competition is sponsored by the Action Civitan Club.
The contestants include:
Ashley Lamar, 19, daughter of Jerry and Mary Lamar of Cullman, a sophomore majoring in public relations.
D’anne Cagle, 20, daughter of George and Suzanne Cagle of Marietta, Ga., a sophomore majoring in marketing.
Haley Webb, 21, daughter of Donald and Charla Webb of Huntsville, a senior majoring in geography.
Laura Popwell, 20, daughter of Larry and Vicki Powell of Andalusia, a junior majoring in dance performance.
Tiffany Hall, 20, daughter of Ron and Jeanie Hall of Pinson, a junior majoring in business.
Elizabeth Deadman, 18, daughter of Ray and Nancy Deadman of Hoover, a freshman majoring in elementary education.
Selena Averett, 18, daughter of Dennis and Carolyn Averett of Cottondale, a freshman majoring in communications.
Casey Elliott, 21, daughter of Frank and Cathy Elliott of Jackson, Miss., a junior majoring in music therapy.
Amy Calhoun, 21, daughter of Gregory and Brenda Calhoun of Vestavia Hills, a senior majoring in telecommunications and film.
Lindsey Tapper, 18, daughter of Jack and Candy Tapper of Germantown, Tenn., a freshman majoring in pre-med.
