TUSCALOOSA, Ala. Representatives from five of the nation’s leading e-commerce firms are scheduled to speak Sept. 28, 2000 at an e-commerce conference at The University of Alabama’s Bryant Conference Center.
The experts are Stephen Collins, chief financial officer of DoubleClick, Inc.; Christine MacKenzie, director of retail strategies and customer connect at DaimlerChrysler Corporation; Gregory J. Owens, president and chief executive officer of Manugistics; Edgar L. Reynolds, president of BellSouth Mobility; and John Sifonis, director of Internet Business Solutions Group, Cisco Systems, Inc.
Sifonis, speaking first, will present an overview of the new economy and discuss the “Cisco story.” Cisco Systems is the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet. Cisco’s networking solutions allow people to access or transfer information without regard to differences in time, place or type of computer system. Cisco provides end-to-end networking solutions that customers use to build a unified information infrastructure of their own, or to connect to someone else’s network. An end-to-end networking solution is one that provides a common architecture that delivers consistent network services to all users.
BellSouth Mobility’s Reynolds will speak second on “The Wireless Future is Now.” BellSouth Mobility is BellSouth’s largest wireless subsidiary providing cellular service to seven southeastern states with a population of almost 40 million.
Owens of Manugistics is scheduled to speak third and will discuss “Intelligent Decisions for Supply Chains and e-Business Trading Networks. Headquartered in Rockville, Md., Manugistics Group, Inc. is a leading global provider of intelligent supply chain solutions for enterprises and evolving eBusiness trading networks. With more than 900 clients, Manugistics powers intelligent decisions in leading companies such as Amazon.com, Coca-Cola Bottling, Commerx, Compaq, DuPont, FreightWise, General Electric, Harley-Davidson, Hormel, Mobil, Nestle, Timberland and Unilever.
Following lunch, Collins will talk about Internet growth and the future of Internet advertising. DoubleClick has been a leader in leveraging technology and media expertise to create solutions that help advertisers and publishers use the Web for branding, selling products, and building relationships with customers.
DoubleClick is a collection of the most highly trafficked and branded sites on the Web (AltaVista, Dilbert, Travelweb, Macromedia and more than 1,208 others). This network of sites coupled with DoubleClick’s targeting technology allows advertisers to target their best prospects based on the most precise profiling criteria available.
The final presentation is a look at automotive internet shopping by Ms. MacKenzie, who has been with DaimlerChrysler Corporation for 19 years and who served as advertising manager for Jeep/Eagle and later became manager of corporate advertising.
The conference is designed for executives and managers who are responsible for, or interested in, e-Commerce. The conference is sponsored by The University of Alabama’ EMBA Alumni Council, the College of Continuing Studies and the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration.
