Heather Carmack

Associate Professor

Dr. Heather Carmack is an associate professor in the department of communication studies. Her research focuses on health communication and patient safety, specifically communication about medical errors. Her research has examined provider and hospital responses to medical errors as well as communication trainings providers receive about medical errors. She also studies patient-provider communication on mobile health clinics. She has worked with a variety of health facilities, including the VA Medical Center in Lexington, KY, the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine mobile health clinic, and the Harvard Medical School Family Van.
