Ewing is the chief information security officer for The University of Alabama. He joined UA in August 2007. He is co-chair of the PCI Compliance Committee along with the director of Student Account Services, and is the UA HIPAA security officer. He is also an instructor of Cyber Information Security in the University Honors College and “Identity Theft” in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Before joining UA, he worked for BellSouth Corp. for 34 years — 17 in information security and information technology.

Ewing is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional and Certified Information Systems Auditor. He is a member of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association and is a founding and active member of the South East Higher ED Security Round Table. He has a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Shorter College in Rome, Georgia.
