Faculty and Staff Accolades for April 2022

UA faculty and staff have been recognized for artistic talents, professional leadership and advocacy for the state’s export trade.

Awards  

William Cummins, executive state director of the Alabama Small Business Development Center Network, received a Trade Advocacy Award from Gov. Kay Ivey for his promotion of Alabama trade as part of the Export Awards program with the Alabama Department of Commerce.

Julianna Proctor, associate director in the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment, was honored with the Joseph T. Sutton Award from the Alabama Association for Institutional Research. She was selected for demonstrated leadership and outstanding accomplishment for the organization. This award is a significant recognition for individuals who have provided exemplary service and leadership and who have actively supported and enhanced the association’s goals.

Exhibitions  and Artist Residencies 

Wade MacDonald, assistant professor, department of art and art history, was accepted to a one-month artist residency at Zentrum für Keramik, the Center for Ceramics, in Berlin, Germany, for May. MacDonald had work selected for Say Something: Tactile Voices in Clay, the annual national juried exhibition held by Saratoga Clay Arts Center in Schuylerville, New York. Also, his work was juried into the 24th San Angelo Museum of Art National Ceramics Competition.  

Sarah Marshall, associate professor, department of art and art history, has a solo exhibition, “Exquisite Disorientation,” at the Wiregrass Museum of Art in Dothan. 

Pete Schulte, associate professor, department of art and art history, has a two-person exhibition with Yevgeniya Baras at the Gallery at Heimbold Visual Arts Center, Sarah Lawrence College, Bronxville, New York.
