Swipe Away Hunger, a student-led organization that provides meals to those in need, is collecting UA meal plan guest swipes that will become Thanksgiving meals for local families.
The organization partners with Bama Dining annually to collect guest swipes from students. Each swipe becomes a Thanksgiving meal prepared by Bama Dining that is donated to local soup kitchens and food banks.
“Our mission is to support those in need and make sure that everyone has a great Thanksgiving meal to enjoy, and we are proud to have a part in making this mission a reality,” said Natalie Crisci, a member of Swipe Away Hunger’s leadership team.
The group hopes to collect 750 meals for the local community. Any swipes that exceed the goal will be donated to the UA Got Meals program that provides meals for students in need on campus.
Swipe Away Hunger will be collecting guest swipes outside of dining halls through Nov. 19. Students also can donate through an online form on the Bama Dining website.
