The University of Alabama and Florida international University are teaming up to help the people who take care of dementia patients. UA associate professor Nicole Ruggiano helped create “Care Heroes.” It’s an app designed to help physicians and caregivers communicate.

University of Alabama to offer state’s first MFA in dance program

The University of Alabama’s department of theatre and dance will offer the state’s first Master of Fine Arts in dance program starting in fall 2020. The program, which will use the 2019-20 academic year to recruit and audition prospective students, will provide training in advanced studies in dance, prepare graduates for employment in the dance profession and provide credentials needed for employment and teaching positions that require a graduate-level degree.

Dancers prepare to perform a Christmas classic

This marks the 47th year the Tuscaloosa Community Dancers have produced “The Nutcracker.” The Tuscaloosa Community Dancers began in 1971, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing together members of the area’s many companies, including The Dance Centre, Academy of Ballet and Jazz, MJ’s Academy of Dance, the University of Alabama’s Department of Theatre and Dance, and more. The group incorporates professional guest artists to raise the level of expectation and inspire younger dancers.
