UA’s Capstone Center Offers International Education Week

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama’s Capstone International Center is sponsoring International Education Week from Monday, Nov. 14, to Friday, Nov. 18, to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

The initiative is designed to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States. The Capstone International Center initiates, promotes and supports UA’s international efforts on campus, throughout the state and around the world.

Events include:

Monday, Nov 14

10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Honors Study Abroad Fair, outside Nott Hall.

5 p.m.: “Inside Rwanda.” Learn about Rwanda from current English Language Institute student and Rwandan journalist Didier Niyomukiza. 109 BB Comer.

Tuesday, Nov. 15

5 -7 p.m.: “Global Cafe: World Travel is for Everyone.” Global Cafe provides a local welcome for world visitors, an international connection for American travelers and a resource for conversation partners practicing language. Capital Hall.

Wednesday, Nov.  16

11a.m.-Noon: “NAFSA Webinar: Cross-Disciplinary Global Learning for Student Success.” 3519 Ferguson.

Noon-1 p.m.: Education Abroad Lunch ’n’ Learn: All business exchange programs.
135 BB Comer.

2-3 p.m.: Boren Scholarship Information Session, 203 BB Comer.

Thursday, Nov. 17

12:30-1:30 p.m.: Culverhouse Connections Internship Fair, Bidgood Career Center.

Noon-1 p.m.: Education Abroad Lunch ’n’ Learn: Feng Chia, Taiwan. 135 BB Comer.

5:30-7 p.m.: Peace Corps Panel Discussion. Meet Returned Peace Corps volunteers and hear about their stories serving abroad. 3115 Ferguson.

Friday, Nov. 18

11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: International Coffee Hour. A weekly event that brings together American and international students, faculty and staff to share their stories. 105 BB Comer.

2-3 p.m.: Fulbright Information Session. Information for students who want to apply for a Student Fulbright Award. 3125 (Anderson Room) Ferguson.
