UA Law School Presents Daphne Attorney with Distinguished Alumnus Award

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Daphne attorney Samuel N. Crosby received the Sam W. Pipes Distinguished Alumnus Award at the recent University of Alabama School of Law Farrah Law Society banquet.

A member of the law school class of 1978, Crosby has practiced law for 37 years with the law firm of Stone, Granade & Crosby, P.C. The firm has 13 lawyers and three offices in Baldwin County.

Crosby is a past president of the Alabama State Bar and the first Alabama lawyer to receive the Chief Justice’s Outstanding Leadership Award for his service to the public. This service has been primarily in the areas of funding for civil legal aid to indigent citizens, access to justice and pro bono work by Alabama lawyers.

Crosby has authored two books and numerous professional articles. He is a Patron of The University of Alabama School of Law and a director of the Law School Foundation, serving on its Executive Council.

The Sam W. Pipes award is given to an outstanding alumnus of The University of Alabama School of Law who has distinguished himself or herself through service to the Bar, The University of Alabama and the School of Law.

Last year’s recipient was Janie Shores, the first woman to serve on the Supreme Court of Alabama.
