UA Wheelchair Basketball Hosts Push for Pink Game for Cancer Awareness

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team will host the first ever Push for Pink game on Friday, Feb. 4, at 5 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center. The Push for Pink breast cancer awareness game against the University of Illinois women will be a part of UA’s weekend tournament.

There is no charge for admission to the game, but there will be an opportunity for fans to donate and purchase items. All proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research groups.

“We chose breast cancer awareness because we believe passionately in the cause and it provides us an opportunity to join a movement with other women’s athletic teams on campus like gymnastics and standing basketball,” said Dr. Brent Hardin, director of wheelchair athletics. “We will have a second Push for Pink game Feb. 19 at noon.”

Friday’s game will be sponsored by Tuscaloosa Toyota and played with a pink ball and pink nets.
