UA Engineering Student Receives Alpha Pi Mu Award of Excellence

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Morgan Clark, a University of Alabama senior in industrial engineering, was recently selected as one of eight national recipients of the Alpha Pi Mu Award of Excellence.

Alpha Pi Mu is an industrial engineering honor society that recognizes exceptional students in industrial engineering, encourages participation in activities that may be beneficial to the profession of industrial engineering, and creates a closer student-faculty relationship.

In addition to the Alpha Pi Mu Award of Excellence, Clark recently received the George C.K. Johnson Industrial Engineering Award and UA’s Penny Allen Award for student service during Honors Week. The Penny Allen Award annually recognizes one University of Alabama student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership.

Clark, a native of Robertsdale, displays her leadership activities on campus as president of Alpha Pi Mu, the Society of Women Engineers, and the Wesley Foundation. She is also a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and a member of Mortar Board and Golden Key honoraries. Additionally, Clark received the Outstanding Officer/Leader Award from UA’s Coordinating Council for Student Organizations.

In 1837, The University of Alabama became the first university in the state to offer engineering classes and was one of the first five in the nation to do so. Today, the College of Engineering has about 1,800 students and more than 95 faculty. It has been fully accredited since accreditation standards were implemented in the 1930s.
