UA Student Group to Hold 24-Hour Vigil for Prisoners of War

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Silver Wings, a student organization at The University of Alabama, will hold a 24-hour prayer vigil in the Ferguson Center Plaza from 1:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5-1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, to honor American Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action.

A box will be set up for visitors to write in prayers for troops currently serving in Iraq. Ribbons will also be passed out to help visitors show their support for POW/MIAs who have sacrificed for the country. POW/MIA poems and literature will be read every half hour by Silver Wings members.

Silver Wings is a student group designed to create proactive, knowledgeable and effective civic leaders through community service and education; they also support, advance and promote interest in Air Force ROTC, Arnold Air Society and the Air Force Association.
