University Libraries at The University of Alabama will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Eric and Sarah Rodgers Science and Engineering Library on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. in the Rodgers Library foyer on the UA campus. The public is invited to attend the free event.
World-renowned scientist and Birmingham native Edward O. Wilson, whose scientific accomplishments and flair for writing have earned him two Pulitzer Prizes and recognition from Sweden’s Royal Academic of Sciences, will return to his University of Alabama alma mater to speak.

The University of Alabama College of Engineering will host Engineering Day (E-Day), an open house for junior high, high school and community college students and their families, on Thursday, Oct. 5, from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Lorenzo Thomas, African American poet and critic, will read portions of his creative work on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 7:30 p.m., in the Morgan Hall auditorium on the University of Alabama campus as part of the Bankhead Visiting Writers Series. The event is free and open to the public.
The first guest speaker in The University of Alabama department of history’s Bankhead Historical Series will be author, Dr. Carole Levin on Monday, Sept. 25.
Representatives from five of the nation’s leading e-commerce firms are scheduled to speak Sept. 28, 2000 at an e-commerce conference at The University of Alabama’s Bryant Conference Center.
