TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama will hold its summer commencement exercises Aug. 1 at Coleman Coliseum on the UA campus.

The ceremony begins at 9 a.m.  More than 1,500 diplomas are scheduled to be awarded to undergraduate and graduate students from all colleges and schools.

Dr. Stephen Katsinas, director of the Education Policy Center and professor of higher education administration at UA, will serve as commencement marshal.

Katsinas began his career at UA in 1985 and held other positions at several other universities, including the University of North Texas, where, in 2000, he became the youngest endowed chair in the field of higher education in the United States.

He returned to UA in 2005, and in leading the EPC, has helped the Captsone’s oldest center become the leading voice for federal issues in the state of Alabama and the region.

The ceremony will be broadcast live over the Internet. The webcast will be archived at ua.edu/commencement/, and it will be available for viewing for 30 days following the ceremony.
